Dundee Heritage Trust

One of Scotland’s finest award winning museums, the home of Scott's Antarctic sailing ship, Discovery, needed to address the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) in 2011 and asked DSS to provide a solution that would blend into the architecturally significant façade of the museum, on the banks of the River Tay in Dundee.

Dundee Heritage TrustThis involved designing and manufacturing museum grade swing doors to match the existing entrance screen and discreetly automating a pair of the doors to ensure compliance with the DDA requirements. In addition, the work had to be carried out without major disruption to the visitors to this world-class facility.

Removal of the existing entrance and installing the new doors and automation was carried out by two teams of engineers from the East Kilbride factory and soon the museum was back in operation, now fully DDA compliant.
